God I love this city
The bums and dumpster
Babies
And bruises
The ice creams
Dirty sneaker laces
The gray
Cold shadows
The steel skyline
Bending suit coat pinstripes
God I love you, girl
I'll sing you a thousand verses
Of the same old song.
But never a cheap chorus.
Buy me my habit and I'll sell you
Some sunshine
Cheap winter streetlight
Got me a fat lip, a busted eye
And miles of road rash.
Echoes of the softest lullaby
Steal whispers from the dark
In this city where you dream
And dream
And dream
So lovely and so cold
In the cold night snow.
God, I love this city.
